The Marrakech airport (Ménara airport) is located 6 km south of Marrakech. The city can be reached with grand taxis located outside. The drive should cost you about 60-70 Dh (add half of the price during night). You can also exchange currency and rent a car at the airport.

The following low-cost carriers have flights to Marrakech:

  • Aigle azur (from Paris)
  • Air Berlin (from Zürich)

By Car

In 2007, the construction of highway from Casablanca to Marrakech is almost complete and now it's very easy to reach Marrakech by car if travelling from the north of Morocco.

If you are coming to Marrakech from Essaouira, or High Atlas (via the Tizi-n-Tichka pass), you will use the local roads, because there aren't any other ones available — yet. Pay attention, because the traffic can be dense and there are a lot of trucks on the road. Attention: the route over High Atlas is blocked during winter because of the snow and is completely inaccessible.

Road distance between Marrakech and other Moroccan cities:

  • Agadir: 256 km (160 mi)
  • Casablanca: 237 km (147 mi)
  • Errachidia: 510 km (317 mi)
  • Essaouira: 174 km (108 mi)
  • Fes: 489 km (304 mi)
  • Meknes: 476 km (296 mi)
  • Ouarzazate: 204 km (127 mi)
  • Rabat: 334 km (208 mi)
  • Tangier: 585 km (364 mi)

By Train

The Marrakech train station is situated in the Gueliz district. You can take a petit taxi from there to medina and expect to be ripped off — this is the standard treatment for tourists visiting Marrakech.

There are also buses leaving from the Marrakech train station for other cities that aren't connected to the railroad network (Agadir, Essaouira, Ouarzazate, etc).

The approximate duration of travel and ticket prices (1st class, one-way) for trains to Marrakech:

  • Casablanca: 3.5 hrs, 125 Dh
  • Fes: 7.5 hrs, 276 Dh
  • Meknes: 6.5 hrs, 247 Dh
  • Rabat: 4.5 hrs, 170 Dh
  • Tangier: 11 hrs, 290 Dh
