Casablanca: How to Get There

By Plane

The Mohammed V airport, situated 30 km to the east of Casablanca is the biggest and most important international airport in Morocco.

Like almost every Moroccan airport, the one in Casablanca has grand taxis waiting to take you to the city. The route from Mohammed V airport to Casablanca centre will cost you around 250 Dh. The prices are fixed — try finding someone with whom to share the cab and split the expense.

Although a grand taxi ride is a good option, the best way to reach Casablanca from the airport is by train. Yes, there is a train station exactly under the airport! This is very practical indeed. The ride from the airport to the Casa Voyageurs train station lasts about 40 minutes and costs 50 Dh for the 1st class and 35 Dh for the 2nd class. The price is double for the ride to Rabat. Warning: if you are travelling from the airport Mohammed V to Rabat, you should change trains (usually at Ain Sebaa).

The following low-cost airlines fly to Casablanca:

  • Aigle azur (from Paris)
  • easyJet (from Madrid)
  • Jet4you (from Paris, Lyon, Marseille and Bruxelles)
  • myair.com (from Milano and Venezia)

Driving up to Casablanca is easy, because every highway in Morocco eventually leads to the Rabat-Casablanca region. Be aware of where exactly in Casablanca you are headed to, because there are a dozen of different highway exits to Casablanca, throughout its greater area.

The rush hour is basically a non-stop thing in Casablanca. Be careful, because the traffic in Casa (as the city is called by the Moroccans) is completely chaotic. People drive recklessly here.
