Note: This is one of the best places to eat in Rabat. There is live jazz 3-4 times per month, the service is excellent and the food is just exquisite. The quality of the food is far above its price. Moroccan and French wines are served. A separate bar exists on the first floor with a cool atmosphere and a good view over Avenue Mohammed V. The place is owned by two French brothers — the restaurant looks like a brasserie in Paris. An excellent choice if you get tired of tajines and couscous.

Restaurants in Rabat medina

Cheap

Cheap restaurants and snacks in medina can be found mostly on Avenue Mohammed V. Also, around lunchtime (between 12am and 3pm) makeshift food stalls are mounted and you can smell roasted meat, cooked snails, fried fish and such. Although these smells can be very tempting, it is better to err on the side of caution and not experiment with these street food vendors.

Mid-range

El Bahia

Boulevard Hassan II, the entrance is on the medina wall, near the petit taxi station and the entrance to the medina from Avenue Mohammed V (a big parking lot is there).

Menu: Moroccan cuisine. Tajines and brochettes are around 60 Dh, salads around 30 Dh. Make sure to try tajine kefta aux oeufs (meatballs in spicy tomato sauce with eggs) and brochettes el bahia (grilled lamb kebab). The restaurant has fish on the menu too, but meat dishes are much better. Calm, friendly, not expensive. Great!
